  Hello Visitor,

LeeAnn Goette CPBT-KA
Today's featured CPBT-KA (Certified Professional Bird Trainer - Knowledge Assessed) is LeeAnn Goette. LeeAnn is currently an Education Outreach Keeper at Little Rock Zoo where she really enjoys working with the vultures and a white naped raven.

LeeAnn was inspired to take the test "to show my supervisors what I had learned about bird training, but also to show myself how much I had grown as a trainer."

"Being certified has helped build my confidence as a trainer which has allowed us to completely change the way we approach training our birds. I have noticed that I can take a step back from the training I'm doing and problem solve then ask myself if maybe there is another way we could reach the same goal. Our shows have continually improved and we are offering more and more programs to show our visitors how amazing these birds are. We have also started to share what we have learned with others at the annual IAATE conference."

Thinking about getting certified? LeeAnn's thinks "getting certified is definitely worth all the studying! Not only, is it important to study the recommended readings about the training, husbandry, and programming, but you then have to be able to apply what you have learned."
